Do NOT underestimate the power of social media! It’s something we’ve heard time and time again, but seems more like the trendy thing to say than anything. If you actually look at the things social media has done though, it’s mind boggling. Remember the kid who tweeted Wendy’s about getting free chicken nuggets for life?
Millions of tweets later, Carter Wilkerson now has a lifetime supply of Wendys for simply tweeting a quick question. Kelsey Hall was not nearly as lucky, she too saw the power of social media when she received 29 000+ retweets on her tweet asking for just 1000. The only difference is that Kelsey did not ask for anything free, she simply made the joke that she would wear her Christmas tree costume to all of her remaining classes at the University of Alabama.
She’s making good on her promise as several pictures have surfaced of her on campus! It’s good to be known for something right?
So what have we learned? Social media can give you your 15 minutes of fame…sometimes for good, but more likely for something like this. Looks like Kelsey is regretting her decision, but good for her for staying true to her word!
