The excitement is starting to build regarding the new Collingwood Library project which is rising from the ruins at the corner of Ste. Marie and Simcoe Streets. When I went past the other day, I was surprised to see what I assume is the cement shaft for the elevators. I’m sure the library staff is tickled pink to see the project coming to fruition. There sure have been a lot of changes in the downtown area since I came to town back in 1971. It’s a staggering, although impressive number of changes that have occurred. Downtown Collingwood has to be the envy of many small towns that are struggling to remain vibrant, as they are plagued with many store fronts that have been papered up as of late. And our current economy certainly doesn’t help matters.
And speaking of municipal issues, Wasaga Beach ratepayers will have a chance to dialogue with Mayor Cal Patterson when he appears on the CHATS program on Thursday with host Dale West. It is open line and you can call them at 445-4951.
A big disappointment for me today on CHATS was the fact the Maureen McLeod and Maxine Coutts-Reid forgot to bring me a stash of Candy Apple, Candy Floss and Popcorn to gear up for the fair. It’s hard to get good help these days. Anyway…see you at the GNE on Friday.
