Peak listener Bill Nicholson e-mailed me on the weekend drawing my attention to a neat happening down at the Collingwood Harbour...here's what he wrote...
Hi guys
I took these pictures earlier today down at the Birch St launch ramp in Collingwood.
It is an immature Bald Eagle probably about 2 yrs old. It won't get its white head and tail for a while yet.
This bird and 2 mature Bald Eagles have been hanging around the harbour since mid October. They have been feeding on the multitude of ducks and geese that are living down at the harbour.
I felt very fortunate to be able to get these pictures with my little camera
Bill
After seeing the picture, I wondered how he got that close and his reply was...
He is not very afraid. I went very slow snapping one pic one step at a time until I was within 20 ft. When it took off it swooped to the water and tried to nail a duck.
