With 2017 over and done Billboard released it’s top songs of the year list. The #1 song for the past year was Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You.
We thought it might be fun today to take a look back at the number one song of 1988!
A year after disbanded the hugely successful duo Wham, George Michael released his first solo album.
Inspired to be a tribute to vintage rock’n’roll complete with the famous Bo Diddley beat this song released in 1987 was anything but vintage.
It is actually one of the first digital recordings, which allowed Michael to put the song together piece by piece. His vocal was done line-by-line, and sometimes word-by-word. A tedious job but worth it!
The song held the number one position on Billboard Hot 100 chart for four weeks and, according to Billboard magazine, it was the number one single of the year in 1988. Here’s George Michael wit Faith!
