Musician, songwriter and producer, Dan Hartman first saw success as the bass play in the Edgar Winter Group from 1972-1976. He went on to be a producer famous for tracks by .38 Special, the Average White Band and James Brown.
As a solo artist, this was his biggest hit. It was written and produced for the movie “Streets of Fire”. In the film a version, featuring a studio vocalist, was used for a fictitious band the “Sorels” to lip-sync to.
For the recorded release of the song however Dan Hartman put is own vocal on it and claimed the top ten hit in 1984.
