Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce will be looking for a new home after the General GovernmentCommitteee recommended to council that the municipal property at 550 River Rd West is not needed in future developments.
The property has been declared a surplus. This parcel of land currently is home to the chamber office and visitors centre.
By Jan. 1, 2019, the town will be fully responsible for the provision of tourism services.
It is anticipated that tourism services will be provided from a space at or near the beachfront.
The proposed new owner of the land – who owns 10 acres abut has agreed to let the chamber remain in its current space for up to five years, subject to paying a nominal rent and covering operating costs.
The next step is obtaining an appraisal of the property and then negotiating an offer of purchase and sale, and then consideration of bylaw to formally sell the land.
