Yesterday’s Wasaga Beach council meeting definitely had a different vibe than last week’s.
Shirts that read “I stand with Sylvia” were worn by members of the public who were silently supporting Councillor Sylvia Bray, who has been asked to apologize for her use of the word ‘cowardly’ at a previous meeting.
A member of the OPP Provincial Liaison Team kicked off the meeting by reminding the public that council meetings aren’t the place for open discussion or comments, and that council can clear the chambers with the help of police.
Mayor Brian Smith then said that council is at an impasse and the matter has been taken to the Integrity Commissioner. Council moved along with their regular business after that.
