Kendrick Lamar’s video for “Humble” took home Video of the Year, Ed Sheeran won Artist of the Year, and we saw some Canadian representation like Alessia Cara winning Best Dance with Zedd for their collaboration on “Stay”. If you’re a fan of boxing you’ve probably heard the result of Saturday’s fight by now (and you probably heard about it even if you’re not). Floyd Mayweather defeated UFC champion Conor McGregor, and walked away with a professional boxing record of 50-0 and a championship belt featuring 3,360 diamonds and 3.3 pounds of 24-karat gold. This weekend was a rough one for Hollywood – it was the worst weekend at the box office since 2014. This marks the latest bad news for movie studios during a summer destined to go down as one of Hollywood’s worst, with the handful of hits (like “Wonder Woman” and“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”) outweighed by the seemingly endless parade of big-budget bombs. This weekend, reports Entertainment Weekly, the Samuel L. Jackson-Ryan Reynolds team-up “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” maintained the top spot at the weekend box office, although the bar has been set so low that the film’s $10 million take in its second weekend was enough to take it to #1, despite the fact that its box office numbers have dropped by more than 50% from the previous week.
