I may not understand the process 100% but the discussion regarding the ownership and operation of the Town of Collingwood’s utility is starting to add up to be a bit unsettling.
In camera meetings and releases stating that council has passed a motion authorizing its solicitor and CAO to “proceed with negotiations with EPCOR and the requisite draft agreements” makes me think they have to the go ahead to cut a deal and sell off the remaining 50% share the town currently owns in the Collus/Powerstream deal. Considering that questions were raised about that original deal which saw a 50% sale of Collus to Powerstream, I’m surprised there is not more open and transparent discussion about this. CLICK HERE
Judging by the response Wasaga Beach got from their request for input from their residents on the sale of their utility, I suspect if the question goes out to Collingwood ratepayers we will see a similar reaction CLICK HERE.
Here is what the Mayor of Collingwood Sandra Cooper had to say about it!
