Once again, things got heated at last night’s Wasaga Beach council meeting.
Police were called in after the public refused to listen to the Mayor’s request to empty the council chambers.
It started when Councillor Sylvia Bray refused to apologize for using the word “cowardly” at a July 6th council meeting and said “no” when Mayor Brian Smith asked her to leave. Members of the public then began to chant “no!” from their seats.
The reaction from the crowd prompted the Mayor to call a recess to clear council chambers, but most of the public stayed in their seats and would not leave. The Town’s CAO then informed everyone that the OPP had been called, and after more heated discussion the meeting ended up being adjourned.
