If you haven’t made it out to Blue Mountain Village’s Friday Night Indie Series you are really missing out on a great experience
Every Friday night this summer Blue Mountain Village is featuring some of the best of the best in Canada’s indie music scene.
Last Friday night was awesome!! The shows usually start at 7pm with an opening act but since there was a torrential downpour the show was rain delayed but eventually opener Chris Blanchford took stage with his haunting voice and powerfully expressive acoustic guitar. Everyone enjoyed his original songs, some which were so new they didn’t even have a title. I particularly enjoyed his cover of Springteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” the slower tempo gave it a moody tone the brought out a fresh interpretation of the songs lyrics
The headliners were the Toronto Indy band Wild Rivers. Formed around the former Kingston indy duo Devan and Khalid, this quartet showed us first hand what all the buzz has been about since they released their first album back in 2016. With two great and unique singers sharing the lead vocals their songs ranged from roots rock groove to ethereal folk. It was a perfect feel for a wonderful evening!
