The Canadian Food Guide is changing. The first slight change in the last 10 years.
Not everyone is so happy about it as it appears to promote less consumption of meat, butter and dairy and encouraging the incorporation of more plant based proteins.
Unlike previous revisions of the food guide, the industry doesn’t have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with Health Canada. Instead, they must submit their comments with the rest of the general public by Monday.
I was raised on a meat, potato, vegetable diet growing up but I definitely try to eat more plant based now and have meatless Mondays and have always felt that the food guide needed more than a few tweaks.
