Nelsan Ellis, best known for playing Lafayette Reynolds on HBO’s “True Blood” has passed away. The actor was just 39 when he succumbed to complications from heart failure. He appeared in films like “The Butler”, “Get On Up” and “The Help”. Cast member Octavia Spencer noted his death on Instagram, saying her “heart breaks for his kids and family.”

Emma Stone is shedding some light on how the pay scale in Hollywood works, or doesn’t work, if you’re a lead actress. Stone says some of her male co-stars have taken pay cuts to make sure she got equal pay on movies. While it’s a nice gesture on the part of the men it isn’t quite the same as studios or producers cutting equal checks for male and female stars. Find more details here.
The latest “Spider-Man” movie won the box office this weekend. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” took in $117 million in its opening weekend, becoming the best “Spidey” debut since 2007’s “Spider-Man 3.” Number two at the box office this past weekend is “Despicable Me 3,” with $34 million.
