The Town of Wasaga Beach has made a decision in regards to the potential sale of Wasaga Distribution Inc., and they have decided not to sell the electric utility.
At a special council meeting last night, and with an unexpected vote, councillors unanimously agreed to retain and grow Wasaga Distribution Inc.
The plan was for council to make a decision at a special council meeting on July 18th, but the motion was put on the table and voted on yesterday instead.
“The people of Wasaga Beach have spoken loud and clear about their desire to retain ownership of our utility provider,” Mayor Brian Smith said in a statement. “Council has heard the message and acted accordingly. Given all we now know, we did not see any sense in delaying our course of action.”
