The 2017 edition of the BET Awards took place yesterday, honouring achievements by African-Americans in the fields of entertainment and sports. This year’s host was “Saturday Night Live” star Leslie Jones. Bruno Mars opened the show, and won Best Male R&B/Pop Artist. Some of the other winners included Beyoncé for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Taraji P. Henson for Best Actress, Mahershala Ali for Best Actor, and “Hidden Figures” for Best Movie. Lorde has earned the top spot on the Billboard 200 charts with her new album “Melodrama”, making this the singer’s first number one record. The singer’s sophomore album “Melodrama” sold a total of 109,000 in it’s first week which is a slight drop from her debut “Pure Heroine”. Read more here.
