Residents of Owen Street in Penetanguishene are noticing their moods are slipping along with the announcement of the Urban Slide location.
The 1,000-foot water slide heading to the town in July will close off Owen Street between Poyntz and Water Streets. For the event, the street will be closed from 6am on July 28th to around 2am on July 30th. Residents received a written letter earlier this month to let them know about the closure.
At a council meeting on June 14th, a resident of Owen Street said that no residents were consulted in the planning but that the church, curling club, and businesses downtown were consulted.
Last summer, the slide was set up along Main Street but it may be under construction at the time of this year’s event. Residents are asking for the event to be moved back to Main Street, and for this to happen council would have to pass a motion at an upcoming meeting.
