Yesterday, The Town of Wasaga Beach launched its Age-Friendly Community Plan which contains steps to help local seniors.
The plan outlines goals that address priorities related to infrastructure, housing, service and support, health care, leadership, and engagement.
“The Town of Wasaga Beach values its seniors and is taking steps through this plan to ensure they can continue to live in our community as they age,” Mayor Brian Smith said. “Our seniors have contributed so much to this country over the years and they continue to do so. We have a duty to make sure that our town remains a safe and accessible place for them. On behalf of council, I want to thank our seniors for all they have done over their lives and for being a part of Wasaga Beach.”
In 2015, the Government of Ontario awarded the town $25,000 to conduct an age-friendly plan, and it was completed in May of 2016. The launch of the plan coincides with Seniors’ Month in Ontario.
