ADELE – LONDON FIREFIGHTERS
London firefighter Rob Petty says it’s not every day that Adele pops in, as he puts it, “for a cup of tea and a cuddle.” Adele visited the firefighters to show her support after the Grenfell Tower fire that killed 79 people last week. Fire station manager Ben King says they heard a knock on a window and saw a woman who said she had cakes for them. He says she took off her sunglasses and said, “Hi, I’m Adele.” She had tea with them and took pictures with the firefighters.
CHRIS CORNELL – LAST VIDEO
Chris Cornell’s final video is out, just as he had always intended. It’s a song called “The Promise” that was filmed shortly before he died. Cornell had written the song about the Armenian Genocide with an eye toward modern atrocities as well. He had requested it be released yesterday, which was World Refugee Day. Cornell and his family had toured refugee camps in Greece in April. He had decided to donate the proceeds from the sale of the song to support child refugees.
LORDE APOLOGIZES ON TWITTER
Lorde has taken to Twitter to apologize, after coming under fire for comparing her friendship with Taylor Swift to an autoimmune disease.
“It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies,” Lorde told The Guardian of maintaining famous friendships, such as her and Taylor’s. “There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease.”
Even though Lorde didn’t mention Taylor by name, it’s safe to assume she is talking about the Shake It Off singer. The pair has been friends since 2014 when Lorde exploded into the music scene. Twitter swiftly came after the singer, saying her comments were completely out of line and especially insensitive because Taylor’s friend Selena Gomez actually has an autoimmune disease – lupus.
When she found out people were upset, Lorde tweeted out this apology:
