There are a handful of fictional made for TV or film bands that actually scored big hits. In the 60s it was The Monkees, in the 70s The Partridge Family in the 80’s it was The Blues Brothers but in the 90’s it was S Club 7.
Designed specifically as a TV show band, S Club 7 were an English pop group from London created by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller. The group was formed in 1998 and quickly rose to fame by starring in their own BBC television series, Miami 7.
“S Club Party” received a mixed reception from music critics. Despite this, it reached the top spot in New Zealand and peaked at number two in the United Kingdom and Australia. It was also certified gold in the United Kingdom for sales of over 400,000.
