Since it’s inception Blue Mountain Village’s Springlicious celebration has been a date night staple for me. An awesome opportunity to experience the amazing shops and restaurants at the Village minus the crowds and at an incredible discount.
My wife Julie and I had already had great time at C&A Steak Company so when the invitation from MJ Bynres Irish Pub Manager Colm Kirwan to try their $25.00 prix fris Springlicious offering we decided to make it a boys night. My son Liam and I went to check it out.
Now full disclosure I love M.J.Bynres!!! The ambience is warm and inviting and the staff are fantastic. As a musician I have played there many times and as a music fan I’m there often to see some of the best of the best local performers! I guess because it registers to me as such a great night spot, I don’t often think of it when it comes to dining. That is mistake as we found out last night!
Even though Liam is only 15, it didn’t seem out of place for the two of us to be in the pub atmosphere and we were given warm welcome. Within moments of taking our seats we were greeted by our server Jaye. I ordered a delicious Irish brew, the Hop House 13 lager and Liam went with a 7up. No need for menus as we were both all in for the $25 Springlicious deal, choice between two different soups or salad, fish and chips and dessert!
Liam chose cream of mushroom, I went with the French Onion soup. They arrived within minutes both wonderfully presented and pipping hot! One look at the melted cheese capped french onion, Liam had immediate order envy, although in all fairness, I tried his soup it was great!
For the main course we received two significantly sized Collingwood Beer Battered Haddock fillets in a basket with delicious fresh cut fries. We didn’t even get near to the end of the basket before we realised we were stuffed! Lucky we went with a take out box and saved room for the incredible homemade apple crumble!
Here’s a quick look at how it went…
