I’m a huge fan of musicals and rock’n’roll! Sometimes combining the two really works. I loved Tommy, Quadrophenia, Chess, Jersey Boys and of course the fine line between the two that many Webber and Rice musicals masterfully sit. Sometimes it doesn’t ! Sorry Mama Mia and Rock of Ages fans!
One of my favourite albums has always played in my head as a musical. The major-label debut by Meat Loaf his first collaboration with composer Jim Steinman and producer Todd Rundgren, released on October 21, 1977 .
I’ve often wondered why no one has taken Meatloaf’s “Bat Out of Hell” to the stage. Well it’s hear.
I want to see it but I’m also afraid it’s not going to live up to the musical I’ve seen in my head for the last 40 years!
