Yesterday morning, a member of the OPP was monitoring traffic on Highway 26 in the area of Fairgrounds Road and saw a vehicle going well above the speed limit. It turns out the driver was doing over twice the speed limit, as the car was clocked at going 188km/h in a posted 90km/h zone.
The 18-year-old driver from Wasaga Beach was charged accordingly, with his license suspended for 7 days and vehicle impounded for that time as well.
He has been charged with “Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Speeding by 50km or more km/h”. His first court appearance is scheduled for May 16th.
