The residents of Meaford are not happy about the announcement of possible hospital service cuts. Grey Bruce Health Services (GBHS) held a public meeting on Wednesday to give locals a chance to voice their concerns over the proposal to eliminate day surgery from Meaford hospital and transfer it to Owen Sound.
Many residents are concerned that further cuts of the hospital will continue to happen in the future, and said they’re scared they’re going to eventually lose Meaford Hospital altogether.
Simcoe.com quoted GBHS board chair Mark Ostland, who said the entire process has been difficult for GBHS: “The decision can go any way […] It has been super tough. We all live in the communities. We understand the impact of our local sites.”
After the meeting, Ostland said the decision is not complete and the board is still gathering information and lobbying for funding formula changes.
