Drake released his long-anticipated playlist “More Life” on Saturday night, and it’s already breaking many records! The songs from “More Life” rallied an unparalleled 89.9 million streams globally in 24 hours on Apple Music, setting a new record for single-day record streams of songs from an album. Spotify also says the first full day release of “More Life”, March 19, generated the best first-day streams for an album on the service with 61.3 million global streams. Those numbers edged out previous record holder, Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide), which collected 56.7 million streams on day one. And that isn’t the only record Drizzy set on Spotify. The 30-year-old also snatched the record for most streams for an artist in a single day on Spotify with 76.4 million streams – again beating out Sheeran.
The Academy Award-winning Best Animated Film “Zootopia” has been presented with a lawsuit claiming many elements of the movie were stolen. Hollywood screenwriter and producer Gary Goldman claims he twice pitched the idea for “Zootopia”, in court documents obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. The suit was presented by Goldman’s Esplanade Production Inc. “The Disney ‘Zootopia’ copies substantial elements of that cartoon world, calls it ‘Zootopia,’ and uses substantially similar setting, characters, dialogue, mood, pace, artwork, and although differing superficially, plot points and story structures, to express substantially similar themes,” the suit claims. And speaking of Academy Award-winners (ok, I’m kidding about this next one)… Mariah Carey has announced that her famous tune “All I Want for Christmas is You” will be made into a movie. In a post shared to her Twitter account on Tuesday, the 46-year-old pop diva revealed to fans that her Christmas classic is being turned into an animated film, set for release later this year.
