UPDATE 02/13/17: The search was officially called off on Friday. Barrie Police made the decision late Friday afternoon, after a week of active searching for 72-year-old Mandy Thompson. Officials say the search will be taking a new direction, with officers looking to follow up on any new tips.
UPDATE 02/09/17: Police are now looking to speak to a tow truck driver who they believe might have helpful information regarding the missing woman from Barrie. They received a new surveillance video yesterday of a black tow truck parked on Penetanguishene Road, where another surveillance video had captured a woman believed to be Thompson walking along the same road. Investigators believe the driver may have helpful information and are asking them to get in touch.
A hotline has been set up to help bring in more tips in the search for the missing woman from Barrie. The OPP joined Barrie Police in the search for 72-year-old Mandy Thompson yesterday. Crews spent the day searching along Penetanguishene Road into Oro-Medonte Township.
Thompson, who has dementia, was last seen Friday morning at her home on Laidlaw Drive in Barrie. Investigators received surveillance footage on Monday of a person who they believe to be Thompson walking on Penetanguishene Road, captured on Friday. For this reason, the search has extended into that area.
