A writer from Saturday Night Live has learned the hard way that there are some lines that shouldn’t be crossed when making political jokes, especially when it comes to the family of elected officials. ET Canada reported that “SNL” writer Katie Rich was apparently live-tweeting during Friday’s inauguration ceremonies when she issued an ill-conceived joke about 10-year-old Barron Trump, writing that the son of Donald and Melania Trump “will be this country’s first homeschool shooter.” Rich has since been suspended from the show and issued an apology:
I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet. I deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I'm so sorry.— Katie Rich (@katiemaryrich) January 23, 2017
