Cameron McDonald from Wasaga Beach is $10,000 richer (and he’s only 16-years-old)! McDonald was named the winner on the first episode of Chopped Canada Teen, a food competition show on the Food Network Canada. The student from Collingwood Collegiate Institute beat out three other competitors for the win.
In the episode, the competitors were given ingredients and were required to make a three-course meal. McDonald told Simcoe.com, “You have to make a three-course meal, and you get four random ingredients you have to put into your dish.” For his appetizers, MacDonald used tuna, turnip, and cinnamon raisin bread to make a mousse with croutons and a sauce. For his entree, he cooked a pan-roasted steak with a purée, green salad and dressing. For dessert, he put together a chocolate mousse with caramelized bananas.
