With Trump’s inauguration on Friday, of course there’s celebrity news related to it. Many celebrities were involved in protests on the weekend, but that’s not what we’ll be focusing on today. Among the performers at the inauguration was Utah-based quartet The Piano Guys, who performed a mash-up of “Amazing Grace” and country singer Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song”(which was ironically used as an anthem at various Hillary Clinton campaign events last year). Platten was less than thrilled to see the tune associated with the new President, and expressed her displeasure on Twitter.
While I respect the office of the President and the peaceful transfer of power, I want to make clear that at at no point did the Piano Guys— Rachel Platten (@RachelPlatten) January 21, 2017
ask for permission, nor did I or anyone on my team know of, approve or endorse their decision to play Fight Song tonight.— Rachel Platten (@RachelPlatten) January 21, 2017
It turns out that the rumoured relationship between Selena Gomez and The Weeknd may not be well-received by Selena’s ex Justin Bieber. Bieber was stopped by paparazzo while exiting a West Hollywood hotspot on Friday night, and was asked if he “could listen to a Weeknd song.” Bieber responded, “No, I can’t listen to a Weeknd song […] That s**t’s wack,” before slamming his car door.
And congratulations is in order for former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell Horner and husband Christian Horner, who are celebrating the arrival of their first child together.
