It isn’t new news that texting and walking can be a problem, and that some governments are trying to get a law passed against it. But as you walk down the street, you notice that so many people are guilty of it! It made me wonder: should it be illegal or is it something people should just be more aware of?
Back in July, Ontario turned down the city of Toronto’s request to ban texting while walking. The reason I bring it up now is because with all the icy days we’ve had recently, I’ve noticed that the idea of texting and walking has become even more dangerous in the winter months! Looking down at your phone for even a second could cause a major slip on an icy patch.
So is it a law that should be re-examined, or is texting while walking an acceptable practice? Those who text while walking and those who don’t, let me know your thoughts on this!
