The Town of Innisfil is facing charges from the Ontario Ministry of Labour in connection with an incident in January 2016 when a town employee was injured on the job. The worker, Derik Porter, fell and struck his head while moving equipment and spent time in a Toronto hospital recovering.
Yesterday, the town learned that five charges were laid in connection to Porter’s injury. The CAO of Innisfil, Jason Reynar, said, “We fully respect the Ministry’s investigation into this matter but we are taking the time to review these charges […] We take the safety of our employees seriously. As we review and eventually respond to the charges, we will continue to ensure the safety of all employees in our workplace by exercising the necessary due diligence to protect them.”
