In 2016 Crime Stoppers tips assisted the Police in Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka area to clear 283 cases which resulted in 183 arrests and 397 charges being laid for a variety of offences including Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Highway Traffic Act. The program received 1,801 new tips and 2,564 follow-up tips from the public these being a combination of calls to our tip line, web tips and mobile text tips.
Anonymous tip information from the community also assisted the Police to recover just over of $1.15 million worth of property and illicit drugs. Since inception in 1987 that number has grown to over $77 million!
The Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka Board approved over $22,000 in reward payments to tipsters this year and over $344,000 since inception in 1987.
