After disciplinary hearings that spanned multiple months, the committee has determined that a doctor from Thornbury committed an act of professional misconduct and sexual abuse. The decision, which was rendered last month, found that Dr. Reza Yaghini kissed a teenage patient back in 2012. The patient says the doctor kissed her on the cheek and then attempted to kiss her on the lips, which made her scared and uncomfortable. In cases like this when a member of the college has committed an act of professional misconduct, they can have their license revoked or suspended and face a large fine.
Dr. Yaghini had suddenly closed his practice back in 2015 and has been dealing with the claims since mid-2016. Now that the committee has found him to be guilty, he will face penalties. A penalty hearing has not yet been scheduled for Dr. Yaghini.
