Here’s a little note we got from the Collingwood Legion today:
It has been a great year for the Royal Canadian Legion across Canada. The Legion has renewed its support of the Canadian Forces` “Morale and Welfare Service Operation Santa Claus“. This year the Legion sent 2,050 packages to Forces and RCMP personnel deployed overseas,
In Collingwood the Ladies Auxiliary has been a big part of supporting the troops with parcels.
“Our Ladies Auxiliary has collected items for parcels for the troops for years and this year was no exception,” said Don Wilcox, Public Relations Officer for Branch 63.
Parcels sent by the Legion and many other Legions across Canada include healthy snack items decks of cards, Legion mugs and much more.
As a former members of the Royal Canadian Navy I know how much these parcels from home do for your morale any time, but more so at Christmas, ‘said Wilcox
Dominion President Dave Flannigan stated in a note looking back at the year said Ì am proud to be part of an organization with so many volunteers striving to make a difference for Canada`s Veterans and their families.“
In Collingwood, Wilcox said the Branch is also proud of its many volunteers and looks forward to a great 2017.
