The Ontario Provincial Police has received complaints with regard to Credit Card scammers.
In a number of incidents calls have been received by residents who are told that the security division of a credit card company is calling to notify you of a compromise of your credit card.
You will be asked to confirm you credit card information.
- Do not provide any information. This includes the name of your banking institution if they are calling you they should already know this not be asking you for the information.
- Never provide your account information, your Date of Birth, security questions or answers to those questions.
- Ask for a call back number, name of the caller. Which credit card company they are calling from.
- Contact your credit card company at the number provided on your monthly statement or your local bank if the credit card is associated to that branch.
