The debate surrounding the implementation of wind turbines in Clearview Township has been on the minds of residents and local politicians for a while. Well, locals say that there has finally been a positive update on this case.
The Environmental Review Tribunal has voted to stall the project, stating in an 87-page document that the wind turbine plan would cause harm to both human health and the environment. They said it will also be a detriment to the Collingwood Regional Airport which is in close proximity to the proposed location.
The decision was released late Friday and locals are pleased with the news. In an article by the Enterprise Bulletin, the Mayor of Clearview says “It’s a great win for Clearview … It’s a great win for the County of Simcoe. It’s a great win for the Clearview Aviation Business Park around the Collingwood Airport.”
However, the decision is not yet over. WPD Canada will still have a chance to prove to the tribunal it can provide remedies to ease their concerns. WPD’s Company spokesperson told Simcoe.com, “We’ve only received the decision yesterday, so we’ll take some time to review the decision and consult with our legal team on what our next steps will be.”
The tribunal has yet to determine the next steps of the appeal.
