Born in Munich Germany, Harold Faltermeyer, grew up both classically trained and with an interest in rock music. He played organ in a rock combo and studied trumpet and piano at the Munich music academy.
He developed his talents as a music producer and began working on a number of motion picture soundtracks. His big break came when he was asked to compose music for the film Beverly Hills Cop.
From that soundtrack emerged a hit song. Named after Eddie Murphy’s character Axel Foley, the synth pop production Axel F became a #1 hit in 1985!
