The Edgar Winter Group lead by Texas born multi musician Edgar Winter were equally adept at rock, jazz, blues, and pop and often combined those influences an a single track. As result when they had the idea to record an instrumental as B side for a single the band recorded this by often jammed the song straying from the arrangement. The original recording was incredibly long and the various improvised sections had to be cut down. Using a razor blade and splicing tape, the track required numerous edits to and the end result was single track pieced together from many sections of recording tape.
