The Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the OPP are starting a new initiative which they call the Vulnerable Person Registry, or VPR. This service, which is now available to the public, allows caregivers and guardians to submit information about a person who may be a safety concern to themselves or the public.
The public can attend the Collingwood or The Blue Mountains OPP Detachment and fill out the VPR form. Certain information will be needed for the form such as date of birth, physical descriptors, methods of approach, and a photograph. Once registered, the person will remain on the registry until there is a removal request. The registry is free of charge and open to anyone in the area, and it will help police to quickly respond and provide proper assistance to the registered person.
