The Council from the Town of the Blue Mountains wants everyone to know that they take claims of workplace harassment very seriously. At a special meeting on Thursday, seven sanctions were imposed against Councillor Michael Seguin, who has had harassment complaints made against him.
A complaint was made about the conduct of Councillor Michael Seguin back in May. The complaint alleged that his conduct breached the Town’s Code of Conduct for Members of Council, the Workplace Harassment Program, and Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act. The complaint was referred to an independent and third-party legal counsel, and Councillor Seguin was invited to participate in the process but chose not to.
The Mayor of the Town of The Blue Mountains, John McKean, said “I would like to assure the public that the matter has been addressed and resolved in a professional, objective and independent manner” and that “As Mayor, I look forward to putting this regrettable matter behind us, and leading the Town forward.”
