Some bad news from Mazda and Ford means that you may have to go to the dealer for your vehicle check-up sooner than planned. Both companies have announced that they are recalling millions of vehicles as a result of various issues.
Mazda is recalling 2.2 million cars and SUVs because the rear hatches can fall on people and therefore can injure them. The recall is on certain 2010 to 2013 Mazda 3 compact cars, in addition to 2012 to 2015 Mazda 5 vans. It also covers certain 2013 to 2016 CX-5 and 2016 CX-3 SUVs.
Ford is adding about 1.5 million cars, SUVs and vans to their recall list because of door latches that can cause the door to pop open while the vehicles are in motion. The recall expansion now means that it will include the 2012 to 2015 Ford Focus, the 2013 to 2015 Ford Escape and C-Max, the 2015 Ford Mustang and Lincoln MKC and the 2014 to 2016 Ford Transit Connect small van.
Both dealers have said they will replace the parts for free, and customers will be notified about when to bring their vehicles in for repairs.
