I wrote a related blog last week, about how most of us would be spending MORE on back to school this year.
I admitted that I won’t be buying much new stuff at all – the kids get new indoor shoes, and they got backpacks and lunch bags from their Grandma as birthday gifts. They don’t need any new clothes and as far as supplies go, I bought what they needed from the dollar store. Last year it was only my oldest who needed his own pencil case (If your little one is just starting JK they don’t need a pencil case at all! Check out THIS BLOG for what they actually need.) so we put what survived the school year into our art supply bin to be reused at home.
Today a friend posted THIS on Facebook and it was a really good reminder that a lot of what you have left from last year you can use again this year. There’s a good chance if your child is young, they’re not going to care whether or not they have a brand new back pack. Although…lunch bags do get pretty nasty by the end of the year!
I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this! Do you buy all new or reuse what you can?
