It’s becoming a nation wide event! August 20th in Kingston is the final scheduled date for what is being considered as The Tragically Hips final tour. With lead singer and songwriter Gord Downie announcing he has terminal brain cancer it’s been a long list of sold out concerts that culminate with the CBC TV live broadcast of the August 20th concert at the K-Rock Centre.
Communities across Canada are planning giant viewing parties of the broadcast.
At Blue Mountain Village in the events plaza they are setting up a giant screen and giant sound. The Town of Wasaga Beach is also holding a screening at Playland Park. Both events are free and for all ages.
You have to love the little practical joke Avening Hall posted on facebook about tickets for a surprise band coming September 30th
“We have a mystery band coming to the hall on Friday, Sept. 30 as part of Clearview`s Small Halls Festival. We can`t say who it is but we can say it would be tragic if you missed out on the can-con tribute. The band will be announced on September 19. Tickets are on sale now.”
Many folks that it was the real “Tragically Hip” it’s not it’s a tribute act. The got my wife Julie hook line sinker!
