Moving Out is a 2002 musical that tells the story of a generation growing up on Long Island, New York during the 1960s. The principal characters of the story all coming from characters in various Billy Joel tunes. Although billed as a musical, this production was actual is a series of dances linked by a thin plot. The the dancers do not sing. All the vocals are performed by a pianist and band suspended on a platform above the stage while the dancers act out the songs dialogue, making the show, in essence, a rock ballet.
