I’m sure you’ve seen the different people that ask for money on different off ramps in different cities – including as close as Barrie.
Well, you might want to keep this in mind before you give them any money!
Dane Rusk lives in Regina and the other day, he saw someone at the side of the road asking for money. He tried to hand the man $3 bucks but when he couldn’t reach him, he undid his seat belt and then gave the money.
Then he was pulled over by Regina police.
What was the crime?
Unbuckling his seatbelt at an intersection – that lead to $175 dollar fine.
By the way, that panhandler was actually an undercover cop looking for traffic violations.
Rusk is upset and doesn’t like that he’s out $178 bucks because he tried to help someone.
Regina police stand by their actions.
What do you think? Were the police right to charge him for this?
