The bad news is that according to Cancer Care Ontario, new cancer cases in the province have tripled since 1981.
The GOOD news is survival has also steadily increased.
New stats released today indicate the increase in cases is due to an aging population and population growth.
Survival rates are up particularly in incidents of breast, colorectal and lung cancers and mortality rates are on the decline.
In fact the five year survival rate is up in Ontario to 63% from a mid 1980’s rate of 48%.
