“Conquistador” originally appeared on the Procul Harum’s 1967 self-titled debut album. The song would not become a hit until 1972.
Late in 1971, British rock group Procol Harum stopped in Edmonton as part of their North American tour.
They had been considering recording a live album, when an executive with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra enticed Procol Harum to the Jubilee Auditorium.
Despite a disastrous rehearsal, filled with technical problems trying to mesh an Orchestra with a Prog Rock Group, the resulting concert was legendary as was the live album and a version of Conquistador that hit the top 40 peaking at 19
