How did former Canadian DJ and VeeJay Christopher Ward end up penning a song about The King of Rock n Roll for Alannah Myles? It started when he took a bus full of Elvis fans riding to Memphis. They were attending the 10th anniversary vigil at Graceland. When he returned to Canada, he brought his idea of an “Elvis song” to singer Alannah Myles and producer David Tyson, who wrote the chords for the bridge.
The song went to #1 in 1989 and won Alannah Myles the 1990 Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocalist.
